ALBUM REVIEW: Surfing the Void - Klaxons

Hello readers, and welcome to Spandex Wolf - THE place for following and keeping up with all the new exciting music that anyone is talking about.

Here you can find a wide range of genres and styles, as we feel that if it's good enough, and we like it, there's a good chance you'll like it too. We haven't restricted ourselves to a particular genre.

Spandex Wolf is commited to providing its readers with the very best in new developments on the music scene, and I feel it's best that we get started right away, so I'll start with an album that had me very excited recently, "Surfing the Void" by the Klaxons.

This album had a lot of hype surrounding it, before it was released and got a lot of advertising, I've seen billboards around with the artwork and everything. This is largely due to the fact that Klaxons' debut album, "Myths of the Near Future" was so well recieved.

I admit that when the album first hit the market I too was very excited and got my hands on it as soon as I could, and having given it a listen I found it very interesting. "Surfing the Void" is definitely an album that caters to certain tastes, and has been recieved in a hugely mixed fashion. It seems to have had the marmite effect - you either love it, or you hate it. They've gone for a more "wall of noise" psychadelic effort with most of the songs with this one, and I have to say I, like many others, haven't taken to it too well. It definitely doesn't have as many catchy choruses as their debut album, and for this reason I feel that it won't go down as one of their greatest works, although songs like "Echoes" can be very addictive and stay in your head for a long while after you've finished listening.

Overall though, this album only receives a rating of:
4 out of 10 stars.
